What does EV charger installation cost in 2026?

From a complete home installation to an HOA charge point: all price guides in one place, plus the factors and extra work that determine what your situation costs.

A home EV charger installation in 2026 costs on average € 950 to € 1,750, including the charger itself, a standard installation and a dedicated circuit in the fuse box. If you already have the charger — for example supplied with a lease car — you only pay for the installation work. The other jobs have their own bands: a charge point at an HOA or apartment € 1,250-2,500 per point, business charge points from € 1,500-2,500 per point, a fuse box upgrade or extension € 350-950 and a relocation, fault or check € 150-450 per job.

Six factors determine where you land in that band: the charger itself (brand, power, options such as load balancing or a fixed cable), single-phase or three-phase (an 11 kW charge point needs a three-phase connection and a heavier circuit), the cable distance between fuse box and charging spot, the parking situation (your own driveway is standard work, a garage or HOA spot needs a longer route), the state of the fuse box and the region — Randstad rates run 10-20% higher.

Don't budget without the extra work. Additional metres of cable and digging through the garden add up, and a full or outdated consumer unit means fuse-box work first. One item falls outside every installer's quote: upgrading the grid connection itself (for example from 1×25A to 3×25A) is done by the grid operator, with its own rates and lead time. Ask the installer during the survey explicitly whether your connection can handle the desired charging power.

Then request several quotes and set them against the price index: differences between companies add up for exactly the same job, especially when one surveys on site and the other quotes from photos. A good quote names the cable route, the circuit in the fuse box and what happens if extra work turns up.
